Leopard Gecko not eating or hand feeding?
SarahRenae asked:
I just got a leo a couple of nights ago and I tried feeding it small, gut-loaded, and powdered crickets, but he just watched them. Then I tried hand feeding him. I was able to hand feed him one mealworm and he bit one cricket’s head off, but then he wouldn’t open his mouth anymore.

Maybe he was trained on freeze-dried food.

I Think You Should Leave Him For A Few Days Until He Gets Used To His New Surroundings – He Probably Wont Feel Comfortable Enough Yet.
Just Make Sure He Has Water. I Found That My Geckos Prefer Mealworm As They Wriggle More, So If You Leave Him Some, Maybe He’ll Be Attracted To Them Wriggling And Eat Them When No One’s Around!

If you just got him the other night he is probably still settling in. Give him time to adjust to his new home, possibly use a small dish and place pure calcium in it along with a few mealworms (make sure the worms cannot escape). You can leave this in the tank and he can eat it at his own will.
As long as he has a fat tail and looks healthy, I wouldn’t worry yet. Give him time. If he is stops pooing and eating all together he could run the risk of impaction (from housing on lose substrate such as sand, bark, etc–paper towels, reptile carpet, and tiles are best).
Also, do you have the heat right? 88-90 on the hot side (this is the surface temperature, not the air), and around room temperature on the cold side. The hot side should be achieved by using a heat mat with a thermostat. The best way to measure the temp on the ground is with a temp gun, as thermometers are not always that accurate. I’ve found that uncontrolled heat mats can and will often exceed 100F, so be careful.
u Should try the freeze dried ones I heard that those work
